In the developed world, every government and its agencies attempt to produce as accurate a forecast of economic indicators as possible. In the UK alone, there are at least twenty major agencies (public and private) which are constantly involved in production of short, medium and long term macro social and economic forecasts for business and public consumption. However, most of these sophisticated forecasts have very little use or relevance to a large number of firms which operate in small localities and hence demand for more local rather than national information.
